"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Born in Alberta, Canada, I am a certified Alberta teacher. Over the past 15 years, I have held many educational and leadership positions in schools, universities, and heritage sites in Canada, England, and France. I have 4.5 years of teaching experience and 7 years of tutoring experience. I also have experience developing curriculum, designing instructional materials, and planning and coordinating summer camps.

My educational credentials include a Master of Education  from the University of New Brunswick and both a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. I also participated in the Government of Canada's Explore program, completing the course Perfectionnement du français oral et écrit at Université Sainte-Anne in 2013.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, and treating my family and friends to their favourite desserts. Fortunately, I love to exercise as much as I love to cook and eat. I am an avid walker and cyclist, and I enjoy downhill skiing. I also love traveling. Thanks to my graduate research into First World War history education, I have had the opportunity to visit the battlefields of northern France and Flanders, as well as the Imperial War Museum sites in the UK. Above all, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, particularly my nephew. My nephew's cheerfulness always puts a smile on my face.

I strongly believe that individualized tutoring that focuses on literacy and numeracy
can positively and permanently impact elementary students' long-term success.

Why do I believe this? Because this was my own experience.

My Story

When I was in Grade 2, my parents hired a tutor to work with me for one hour twice a week. I trust that my tutor referred to Alberta's English Language Arts and Mathematics' Programs of Study (PoS), but he did not remain within the confines of the PoS. Instead, he taught me foundational English and Math skills, including grammar, punctuation, reading comprehension, mental math, and mathematical operations.

I am beyond grateful that my tutor taught me English and Math because I became a confident writer and math student. In fact, my elementary and junior high teachers told me that I wrote at junior high and high school levels. Furthermore, my first-year English professor recommended for the B.A. (English Honours) program! Meanwhile, thanks to the mathematical skills I gained during tutoring sessions, I did Calculus in high school and took Math courses at university.

The knowledge I gained during tutoring sessions enhanced my reading and speaking and enabled me to grasp French and Spanish language concepts. This resulted in me majoring in both French and Spanish during my BA and specializing in language instruction during my BEd. As well, in August 2020 the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Education nominated my thesis for the Governor General's Gold Medal, which is the university's highest honour.

And ... all this happened despite the fact that following childhood surgery,
doctors advised my parents that I would not graduate from high school!
